About

Jimmy Costigan was born in Pensacola Florida on August 28th. He grew up in Towson Maryland and it was while attending Towson High School that he became interested in photography. His then teacher and mentor, Juan Castro, was a huge influence and gave him the necessary tools to win several awards during his 3 years in the photo department. After brief stints at the Pennsylvania State University and the Community College of Baltimore County respectively, Jimmy moved to Baltimore City and is currently attending the Maryland Institute College of Art where he is pursuing a bachelors of fine arts in photography with a concentration in graphic design. He is the recipient of a merit scholarship and has had the honor of being on the dean's list for both of his completed semesters. His current body of work consists of self portraits in the style of famous musician's album covers that will be accompanied in an exhibition by his own remix of their music. The work addresses the idea of the remix in the context of originality and function and hopes to spark a conversation, or a dance-off, between the viewers. His current work is based around interacting with the audience on an aural, physical and visual level.
